ABOUT MR. SHERLOCK'S CLASS

Welcome to my classroom,
This website is intended to help my current, former, and future students learn about the field of Social Studies. Each course I teach has its own page, where all standards are listed and resources can be found. In the end, I hope that all of my students can use this site to help them achieve mastery and receive credit for all their hard work.

As a teacher of Social Studies, I have a passion for history that dates back to my childhood. I also love travel and photography; both easy hobbies to tie into my interest in the past. I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 and the 2023-2024 academic year will be my eleventh year teaching in my own classroom. My first two years were at Lighthouse Academy, teaching students in the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center and Holy Cross Children's Services - The Haven, both in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From there, I taught for seven years at Hope Academy of West Michigan, also in Grand Rapids.

In January 2022, I began teaching at the West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science in Walker, Michigan. After one semester in middle school, I am back in my comfort zone teaching high school social studies. I look forward to teaching here for many more years to come.

Here's hoping for another wonderful school year. Please feel free to send me an email with any questions or comments!

Sincerely,
